October 2022 marks 60 years since the Cuban Missile crisis brought the world as close as it has ever come to nuclear war—until now.
We might ask ourselves why the United States is willing to risk nuclear war with Russia?
Not over its own territory, but over tiny, far-off Ukraine, long considered to be the most corrupt nation in all of Europe; where neo-Nazis are an integral part of society and where militia such as the Azov Battalion, founded by an “avowed white supremacist who claimed Ukraine’s national purpose was to rid the country of Jews and other inferior races,” have proudly been integrated into the military.
In 2018, the U.S. Congress stipulated that its aid to Ukraine couldn’t be used “to provide arms, training or other assistance to the Azov Battalion.” And yet, here we are now, with the US sending billions in aid, even when it is undisputable that Azov is an official member of the Ukraine National Guard. The U.S. has sent more than $54 billion to Ukraine since the war against Russia started, according to The New York Times.
Craig Murray wrote in Diplomacy is Always an Option, “You are conditioned to believe that killing more people is a better solution than negotiating a compromise. This is despite the fact that it is self-evidently a psychopathic notion.”
