So, on Martha’s Vineyard I ran in the mornings and experienced some pretty amazing thunderstorms along the way. Here, in the hills above Lake Arenal, I jump rope for twelve minutes, to start and by one minute into it, I am dripping sweat in this tropical paradise! I move on to a bunch of good old standards, push-ups, mountain climbers, shadow boxing, etc. I always end with 3 to 5 minute plank and sit-ups. One to two hours training. Then I am prepared in my mind to write. It’s rainy season at Lake Arenal. Around dusk, everyday, the sky unleashes a downpour, what a show! I love thunderstorms and I have had my share of them, first in Phoenix, then Martha’s Vineyard and now here. I can say Lake Arenal wins the prize!
Rain on Me

I am, more than anything, a Traveler, always seeking new ways to learn and grow. Especially in these challenging times, I am a passionate advocate of free speech. The practice of martial arts is a way of life for me. I am the co-founder of InsideOUT Writers, a creative writing program for incarcerated youth, and the founder of the MY WORLD PROJECT, connecting youth in remote areas through art and writing. I'm happiest living out of a suitcase and seeing where the next step in my journey will take me. For the past three years that has meant living in Luxor, Egypt, where I started the first boxing club for girls on the West Bank. I'm the author of numerous children's books and essays, as well as the Urban Fantasy series NIGHT ANGELS CHRONICLES. This year sees publication of my sci-fi/dark fantasy work, FIREFLY LANE, with Terror House Press. At the moment, I'm riding out this pandemic in Phoenix, but who can say where tomorrow will take me.
